Free quote generator, with options and your margin.
Give your customer two or three ways to buy on one quote. Keep your cost beside each line so you can see the margin before you send it; your cost never prints.
No sign-up. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
How to use it
- Click any text on the quote and type over it: your company, your customer, the quote number, the dates.
- Add your lines. Each line takes a quantity, a price, a discount and a tax rate of its own.
- Turn on Show my cost column and enter what each item costs you. The margin appears per line and for the whole quote, and it warns you when you drop under the floor you set. None of that prints.
- Use Add an option to offer a second way to buy: parts only or fitted, this month or next. Every option prints, with its own total, so your customer can choose.
- Download PDF or print opens your browser’s print window. Choose “Save as PDF” there.
- When the customer says yes, Turn this option into an invoice carries the lines across.
What a good quote contains
Who it is from and who it is for. A number, so both sides can refer to it. The date, and the date it stops being valid, because prices move. Each item with its quantity and price. Any discount shown as a discount, not hidden in the price. Tax shown separately. Delivery, if you charge it. What happens next: a deposit, a lead time, how to say yes.
Why offer options
A single price invites a yes or a no. Two options invite a choice between them, and the second one is often the better sale. It also saves the second email: the “what if we had it fitted?” question is already answered on the page.
Why watch the margin, not only the total
A discount comes straight out of profit. On a line with a 30% margin, a 10% discount removes a third of what you were going to make. Seeing the margin while you type is how you stop a good-looking quote being a bad one.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no account, no trial and no watermark beyond a small line at the foot of the document.
Where are my quotes kept?
In your browser’s storage on this device. They are not sent to us or anyone else. If you clear your browser’s site data they go with it, so use Export as a file for anything you need to keep, and Import a file to bring it back or move it to another computer.
Will my customer see my costs?
No. The cost column, the margin under each line and the margin box are left out of the printed document and the PDF.
How is tax worked out?
Each line has its own rate. A discount on the whole quote is spread across the lines before tax, so each rate is charged on what you actually billed at that rate. Tax is shown per rate, with the amount it was charged on.
Can I use another currency or date format?
Yes, both are in the panel beside the quote. Amounts follow the currency’s own number of decimal places.
Is an approved quote legally binding?
This tool makes a document. Whether an accepted quote forms a contract depends on what it says and on the law where you trade, so ask someone qualified if it matters.
Want the quote, the order and the invoice to be one thing?
In OrbisVendor the quote opens as a portal your customer approves, and the order and the invoice are raised from it.
